Om is a sacred syllable considered to be the most powerful of all the mantras, or sacred formulas in Hinduism and other religions primarily originating from India.  It mystically embodies the essence of the entire universe, or totality - the diving togetherness in everything.  It relates to the crown chakra and is commonly used as a mantra in Yogic practices and meditation to centre the mind, body and spirit, leading to an elevated consciousness or spiritual awareness.
